The use of artificial intelligence (AI) should make human work easier and more efficient. What makes sense in theory is often not the case in practice. Why do we currently do not see the hoped-for benefits of AI augmentation? Anuschka Schmitt, a doctoral student at the chair of Prof Jan Marco Leimeister, is investigating these questions. In her dissertation on the topic of "Artificial Intelligence, Augmentation, and Agency" she conceptualises alternative designs for the interaction between humans and machines and empirically tests how current challenges in AI augmentation can be overcome. Her dissertation thus makes an important contribution to overcoming the current problems in the use of AI and achieving positive results that go beyond mere increases in efficiency.
