The Association for Information Systems (AIS) is the US-based international association for information systems. At its annual conference in Bangkok, Jan Marco Leimeister was appointed AIS Fellow for his achievements. This is a further international recognition of the expertise of the University of St.Gallen in the field of information systems.
The AIS Fellow designation is awarded to researchers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of information systems in the areas of research, teaching and service. According to the AIS, a Fellow has made significant achievements to the discipline of information systems at the international level and has also enhanced the development of his or her country and region. AIS Fellows serve as role models and inspiration for colleagues and students within the discipline of information systems.
Jan Marco Leimeister is the first researcher from Switzerland to receive this honour from the World Association for Information Systems. Only 20 researchers in Europe have received this high distinction.
Since 2014, Jan Marco Leimeister has been a full professor of information systems and managing director of the Institute of Information Systems and Digital Business at the University of St. Gallen. He is active in research and teaching and has published in leading journals worldwide. He has received several international awards for his work. The recognition by the AIS once again significantly underscores the University of St.Gallen's position and international visibility in the core topic of "digitalisation and information". The appointment of Jan Marco Leimeister as an AIS Fellow not only confirms the outstanding quality of his work, but also highlights the increasing importance of information systems as a key area for the digital future of Europe and the world.
