Transformation towards Agentic AI

Why?

Many companies are facing the question of how to successfully navigate the shift toward Agentic AI. However, companies are often at very different levels of maturity when it comes to AI adoption.

Our goal is to illustrate this transformation journey—starting from rule-based automation, moving through intelligent automation, and ultimately reaching fully autonomous agentic systems—using a maturity-based roadmap. Along this journey, we want to explore key questions such as:

  • What risks and limitations exist within and between the individual stages toward Agentic AI?
  • Which developmental pathways (e.g., maturity levels) need to be considered?
  • What are suitable use cases for each phase, and how can they be systematically structured?

For each stage of the roadmap, we aim to present concrete examples, common limitations, and the required organizational structures within the Financial Service sector.

This work is part of a study conducted in collaboration with a consulting firm. In addition to the consulting partner, we’re involving their industry partners in the financial services sector.

We have already developed the anchor points for the roadmap. As part of the thesis, specific aspects of this roadmap will be explored in greater detail. Let's align together what your thesis could look like, and which part of the transformation journey you're particularly interested in.

Objectives

  1. Identify key challenges and success factors in the transformation from traditional bot structures to Agentic AI within organizations.
  2. Identify developmental pathways and use cases along the journey
  3. Analyze how companies in the financial services sector must adapt their organizational structures to successfully manage this transformation. Examine the role of Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in supporting the implementation and scaling of AI approaches.

Methodology

The work will be based on:

  • A systematic literature review (SLR) and best practice analysis
  • Interviews with financial services experts to identify status quo, needs and potential

We offer

  • Intensive support for your thesis with regular exchange and guidance
  • Interesting contacts and interactions with a Swiss consultancy and companies within the financial services sector
  • Opportunity to work within a team on a common goal
  • Dynamic and motivated team which is happy to share learnings
  • The possibility of starting immediately, with a planned completion of the thesis within ±6 months. The latest start date is September 2025
